No Sin Too Great

I am always amazed how you can read the same passage from the bible at different times in your life and it speaks to you in different ways. I enjoy retreats and formation class; greatly appreciating the insight of others, that make obvious the messages in the bible that I had previously overlooked.

I recently attended a much needed retreat.  It was a healing retreat.  I have heard many times and knew deep in my heart that our God is a forgiving God.  But the message I heard that brought me great joy and comfort was, “There is no sin too great, that God cannot forgive.”  The priest pointed out that it was blasphemy to think you could sin greater than God’s mercy and love. We are washed clean by the blood of Jesus.

As I pondered this, I thought about those I struggle to forgive. Are the wrongs of others toward me too great for me to forgive them? Would God have created me in his own likeness and not given me the ability to forgive all wrongs? If I am to live so others can see and know Jesus through me, then that should include the forgiveness of ALL others at all times.

What helps you to forgive others and brings you peace and healing?  ~Brenda
